Ojiya Chijimi [UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, Nationally Designated Important Intangible Cultural Property]
High-quality ramie, called "choma," is finely crushed and joined together to create a long thread. With this prepared warp, each weft thread is meticulously woven, aligning the patterns one by one. It is said that 900 hand movements are required to weave just one foot.
The unique character of each color, interwoven in the stripes of Ojiya Chijimi, adds an elegant touch, while the distinctive "shibo" (crepe texture) created by the final hot water treatment results in an unparalleled masterpiece full of refreshing coolness. It can be used by both men and women, making it unisex.
It comes with a matching fan case (made of linen) and a luxurious paulownia wood box with a fabric lining, making it ideal as a gift for someone special.
